A community initiative has been launched to give youngsters a safe space to use on the Bridge. It has come from Bernie Coutu and the Bridge Neighbourhood Watch team, supported by the Vale Douzaine.

Vale parishioners are being invited to make their views known on how much States deputies should be paid ahead of the general election next summer. Members have just received a 7% increase, based on the rise in island median earnings, which takes their pay up to £46,000 to £81,000 depending on responsibility levels.

A Vale road that was closed without warning nearly a year ago is finally set to reopen. Guernsey Water announced yesterday that work is to start stablising a quarry bordering the lane, which led to the closure.

Vale residents are being asked to make sure they recycle things in the proper bags – especially glass. The reminder comes after Recycling for Guernsey has noticed that some households are leaving bottles and jars for collection in plastic bags.
